Semi-aquatic mammals card set
Each A6 greeting card in the semi-aquatic mammals card set comes with a brown kraft envelope. Each A6 greeting card is blank inside, so you can easily add your own personal message. The reverse of each card includes a short description of each mammal as follows:
Beaver
The beaver is a skilled ecosystem engineer with an incredible ability to create new wetlands, restore native woodland and improve habitats for a wide range of species. Its distinct flat, paddle-shaped tail serves as both support on land and for steering in water, while its bright orange teeth (due to iron in the enamel) are super hard, enabling them to fell trees for food & construction materials.
Water vole
Native to the UK, the water vole is the largest species of vole in Britain. It has a blunt muzzle and short, rounded ears that are almost hidden by its glossy brown fur. This well-loved semi-aquatic mammal feeds on a mixture of lush sedges, rushes, and grasses along the banks of slow-flowing rivers, ditches, lakes, ponds and canals.

Grey seal
The grey seal inhabits the entire UK coast. It rests on land in large groups and features an elongated head with a long nose and parallel nostrils. Typically, a single pup is born in the autumn, unable to swim until it sheds its fluffy-white coat.
Otter
The otter is a semi-aquatic mammal that lives in the UK’s freshwater habitats. Elusive in nature, it’s most likely to be spotted at dawn or dusk. It’s a powerful swimmer, thanks to its elongated body, thick tail and webbed feet and builds its nest—known as a ‘holt’—in old cavities and tree roots along the riverbank.
