About
This grey seal illustration was inspired by a personal experience whilst scuba diving off the wildlife-rich Farne Islands. The islands sit off the Northumberland coast and offer a great opportunity to see Grey Seals, particularly in September and October. October is the peak month for seeing seal pups, as the Farne Islands are a major breeding ground for this species. Grey seals are present all year round, but their numbers and the visibility of pups are most prominent during the autumn and winter months. See our incredible encounter with the friendly grey seals

How can you tell the difference between a grey seal and a common seal?
There are two species of seal found around the UK coast and saltmarshes. International conservation charity Zoological Society of London‘s (ZSL) marine experts explain how to tell them apart.
