Description
Each A6 greeting card is blank inside so you can add your own personal message. The reverse includes a short description of each garden bird. Each card comes with a brown kraft envelope.
Birds included in the card set are:
Chaffinch
The UK’s commonest finch, the male chaffinch has unmistakably colourful plumage and sports striking white markings on its wings and tail. It looks for food both on the ground and in trees and its nest is a beautifully constructed bowl shape that is very well camouflaged.
Goldfinch
The goldfinch’s scientific name is derived from the latin word for thistle – Carduus. Thistle seeds are one of the goldfinch’s favourite foods, which they expertly access using their long fine beaks.
Robin
A real UK favourite and gardener’s friend, robins sing nearly all year round. In Victorian times, Postmen wore red jackets, earning themselves the nicknames of ‘robin’ or ‘red breast’. It then became popular to adorn Christmas cards with these iconic little birds.
Wren
Although commonly found throughout the UK, the wren is a secretive bird of mini proportions. Distinguished by a short upright tail and light eye stripe, it has a mighty song for its size. It tends not to feed on bird tables but instead favours low cover where it forages insects and spiders.
