British mammals card set
Each A6 greeting card in the British mammals card set comes with a brown kraft envelope. Each A6 greeting card is blank inside, so you can easily add your own personal message. The reverse of each card includes a short description of the mammal.
Red Fox
The red fox is easily identifiable by its russet-red fur, pointy ears, white bib, and bushy tail. This medium-sized wild dog has the ability to thrive in various environments and has a diverse diet. During springtime, female red foxes, also called vixens, typically give birth to 4-5 cubs. Both parents take part in nurturing the offspring.
Badger
An unmistakable icon of the British countryside, the badger is a sociable mammal that lives in mixed groups known as clans. However, it forages for food alone. The sett, in which it lives, is made up of a network of tunnels and chambers deep underground. Some setts can be vast in size with numerous entrance holes. These can take many years to build.
Brown Hare
The brown hare is distinguished by its long, black-tipped ears and powerful back legs. They propel the hare up to speeds of 45mph when running at full pelt. Rather than burrowing for shelter, it lives in shallow sunken areas above ground or in long grass. These sunken areas are known as forms.
Hedgehog
The UK’s only spiny mammal, the hedgehog is largely nocturnal and relies on a varied habitat of hedgerows, woodland edges & gardens. Here it looks for mates and forages for beetles, earwigs, worms & caterpillars (hedgehogs are lactose intolerant so must not be fed milk!) In early spring, babies, also called hoglets are born.
